My qualifications are DPsych, MSc, BSc, and BA all relating to Psychology. I am trained in EMDR and CBT therapies, and also use narrative, psychodynamic or systemic methods as appropriate in a collaborative relationship with each client.
I believe that an empathic, non-judgmental and compassionate approach can enable a sound therapeutic relationship to develop which facilitates exploring the clients' concerns in confidence and working together towards helpful change.
My interests include anxiety and panic, depression, phobia and trauma following road traffic accidents, work place incidents, stress and work burnout, and the situation of the spouse who is left when their partner begins a same-sex relationship. My doctoral thesis involved a study of the phenomenon of mixed orientation marriage and the consequences for the remaining straight partner.
I also believe in maximising a client's resources and strengths so that they feel more confident to cope with future difficulties.
